Evie Theocharous

Evie is currently working at a research institute for politics and democracy in Nicosia. She holds a BA in European Studies and French from the University of Reading, an MSc in Political Sciences from UCL and is currently pursuing an MA in Peace, Conflict and Democracy at the University of Cyprus. Her main passion is the empowerment of the role of young people in society and between 2022-2023 she was appointed by the Council of Europe as the youth delegate of Cyprus. She currently holds the title of UN Youth Champion for Environment and Peace. Among other things, she successfully developed a project aimed at empowering the role of young people during crisis management times in Cyprus. A policy recommendations booklet was then handed to the Council of Europe which was disseminated at all local authorities of the countries of the Council of Europe. At the age of twenty, she completed her internship at the European Parliament in Brussels (General Secretariat) and later at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus where she worked directly with the Crisis Management Centre and the General Secretariat. In addition, she collaborated with the “Caritas” confederation in European programs aimed at achieving the integration of immigrants in society. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Cyprus Youth Diplomacy.
