Stavri Kalopsidiotou

Stavri Kalopsidiotou, (LLB, LLM, PhD), is an international law expert with a special focus on international peace and security. She has attended various programmes on international law, including the summer programme of the Hague Academy of International Law on Public International Law. She works for AKEL as a consultant with the Cyprus Problem Bureau and she is also the Head of the Human Rights Policy sector of the party. Throughout the years, she has worked as an associate lecturer for the University of Cyprus, the Frederick University and Alexander College. Between 2004- 2008 she was a political advisor to the delegation of AKEL and GUE/NGL in the European Parliament, Brussels. She has formerly participated in the Sub-Committees of the National Council with regards to core chapters of the Cyprus problem and was among the G/C delegation at the Crans-Montana Conference on Cyprus in 2017 where she participated in the sub-committee on Security. She regularly authors articles/publications that focus on the politics of the Cyprus problem, as well as on foreign policy and human rights issues. She has active participation in various bicommunal initiatives and she is a member of the Greek Turkish Forum. She is a member of the Central Committee of AKEL and of the Executive Board of the POGO Women’s Movement.
