Sigurlaug Anna Johannsdottir

Sigurlaug is a political scientist and has been working, researching, and writing about democracy for over 15 years. She currently works as a democracy advisor at the City of Reykjavík and is responsible for the implementation of the city’s democratic policy. She also teaches at the University of Iceland about the operations and management of municipalities. Previously, Sigurlaug worked on a research project at the University of Iceland where direct democracy in the 22 largest municipalities in Iceland was studied. Subsequently, she edited together with others and wrote chapters in the publication Guide to democracy at the local government level, which was published in collaboration with the Institute of Administrative Studies and Political science at the University of Iceland and the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities.
